PERSONAL TRAINER
GENTIL NDUWAYESU
CERTIFIED PHYSIOTHERAPY ASSISTANT / CERTIFIED BOXING & KICKBOXING COACH / STRENGTH & CONDITIONING SPECIALIST / ENDURANCE PERFORMANCE SPECIALIST / REHAB-AWARE TRAINING
Keeping clients in sport, from beginners to seasoned athletes, through
rehab-aware strength & endurance training.
I bring together personal training, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and combat sports coaching in my work at PuncHIIT Fitness. With a diploma in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant studies, four years of personal training experience, and my work as a Rehabilitation Assistant with Nova Scotia Health's Bone & Joint program, I've built a strong understanding of movement, injury awareness, and adapting training around a person's abilities, limitations, and injury history.
MY STORY
In my early 20s, I injured my meniscus and spent three weeks on crutches. A year later, I was in a motor vehicle accident — and both times, it was movement that got me through. The pain and depression that came from not being able to move became my turning point: it's how I discovered that movement makes me happy, and that discovery became my why. I want to share that happiness with as many people as I can.
MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY
For me, coaching is ultimately about helping people. Whether someone wants to get stronger, move better, return to training after an injury, improve their fitness, or simply feel more confident in their body, I believe meaningful progress starts with meeting people where they are and moving forward one step at a time.
My coaching style combines technical instruction with practical, progressive training — rather than simply putting clients through workouts, I focus on building strength, movement quality, confidence, and physical capacity clients can keep building on over time.
MY CLIENTS
My goal is to help people who want more than just a workout plan — real guidance, real accountability, and a safe path forward, whatever that looks like for you.
INJURY RECOVERY AND REHABILITATION CLIENTS
For clients returning to training after an injury, or working to properly follow exercises prescribed by their physiotherapist, I draw on my experience as a Physiotherapy Assistant to support rehabilitation and safe return to work and sport.
BOXING ATHLETES
Clients training in boxing or kickboxing will benefit from my own experience as an amateur boxer — real ring time that shapes how I coach technique, conditioning, and fight preparation. For me, it's not just theory, it's real experience.
SOCCER AND OTHER ATHLETES
For clients focused on soccer or other sports, I focus on a deep understanding of endurance, coordination, and skills-based training built around what your sport actually demands.
ALL AGES, ALL STARTING POINTS
It's never too early or too late to start training—I work with clients at any age and any stage. My experience ranges from young athletes preparing for competitions to clients in their 60's and beyond training for the first time.
MY EXPERTISE
BOXING & KICKBOXING
I coach boxing and kickboxing drawing on my own experience as an amateur boxer. I work with clients on fundamentals, padwork, footwork, and technique, whether you're brand new to the sport or training with more experience.
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
I coach strength and conditioning built around each client's goals, ability, and any limitations they're working with — programming that builds strength and fitness in a way that's practical and sustainable.
REHABILITATION & INJURY AWARENESS
Drawing on my diploma in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant studies and my experience as a Rehabilitation Assistant with Nova Scotia Health's Bone & Joint program, I bring a strong understanding of movement and injury history into how I adapt training around individual limitations.
WHY CLIENTS CHOOSE TO WORK WITH ME
Clients see me for a number of reasons, most notably:
-
Safe Return: Many people finish physiotherapy with a list of exercises but feel scared or unprepared to lift heavy or return to sports. I provide the specific guidance to bridge that gap, making sure we're loading the body safely without re-injury.
-
My Lived Experience: As an amateur boxer with many years of experience, and a lifelong soccer player, I understand the physical demands and injuries that come with high-impact sports firsthand. Clients trust me to prepare them properly for competition, plan for the demands of their sport, and limit their risk of injury.
-
Preventative Focus: My expertise extends to preventative exercises that combat injury and de-conditioning. I find it rewarding working with clients who want to stay active long-term, not just fix a current problem.
BEYOND THE GYM
Outside the gym, I'm an active athlete and multi-sport coach—I coach youth boxing and soccer, compete as an amateur boxer, and play in a men's senior soccer league. That firsthand experience gives me a real understanding of the consistency, patience, and work it takes to improve physical performance while managing the demands of everyday life.
When I'm not coaching or competing, you'll find me hiking, camping, or spending time outdoors.
