Sonny Wilson

Owner | Personal Trainer | Boxing Coach | Strength & Conditioning Specialist | Rehab-Aware Strength Training

Helping people get stronger, move better, recover from injury, and build confidence through purposeful training.

Whether you're stepping into a gym for the very first time, returning after an injury, training for a sport, or simply looking to stay active as you get older, my goal is to help you become stronger, healthier, and more capable than you were yesterday.

As the owner of PuncHIIT Fitness, I've built my coaching philosophy around one simple belief:

Exercise should have a purpose.

Anyone can make you sweat. Real coaching helps you move better, build confidence, improve your health, and achieve goals you may have once thought were out of reach.

My Story

My journey into fitness began long before I became a personal trainer.

For decades, I've been involved in combat sports, including boxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. What started as a passion for learning how to fight eventually evolved into a lifelong pursuit of strength, conditioning, mobility, rehabilitation, and coaching.

Combat sports taught me discipline, resilience, humility, and the importance of continual learning. The better I became, the more I realized there was always something new to learn.

Over the years, I developed a deep appreciation for the science of movement, strength training, injury prevention, and performance. That passion ultimately led me to create PuncHIIT Fitness — a coaching-focused fitness community built around helping real people achieve real results.

Today, I work with everyone from complete beginners to experienced athletes, helping them improve strength, mobility, fitness, confidence, and overall quality of life.

What Makes My Approach Different?

Many fitness programs focus on burning calories. I focus on building capability.

Whether your goal is weight loss, strength, mobility, rehabilitation, athletic performance, or simply feeling better in your own body, every workout should move you closer to that goal.

I don't believe in random workouts.

I believe in purposeful training.

Every exercise, every progression, and every coaching decision should serve a purpose.

Who I Work With

Throughout my career, I've worked with a wide range of clients, including:

Beginners

Many of my clients start with little or no exercise experience.

If you're intimidated by gyms, unsure where to begin, or worried about being judged, you're not alone. Helping people build confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

Adults 40, 50, and Beyond

As we age, maintaining strength, mobility, balance, and overall fitness becomes increasingly important.

At 63 years old, I understand firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with staying active as we age. My goal is to help clients remain strong, capable, and independent for as long as possible.

Injury Recovery and Rehabilitation Clients

Many people come to us after physiotherapy, surgery, or injury.

I regularly work with individuals recovering from:

  • Shoulder injuries

  • Back pain

  • Hip and knee issues

  • Mobility limitations

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation

We often collaborate directly with physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to help clients continue progressing long after formal treatment has ended.

Athletes

From hockey players to combat sport athletes, I help athletes improve strength, conditioning, movement quality, mobility, and performance.

Boxing and Kickboxing Enthusiasts

Whether your goal is fitness, confidence, skill development, or competition, boxing and kickboxing provide some of the most rewarding and engaging training experiences available.

Areas of Expertise:

Boxing Coaching

Boxing has been a major part of my life for decades.

I coach:

  • Beginner boxing

  • Boxing for fitness

  • Technical boxing development

  • Padwork

  • Footwork and movement

  • Conditioning

  • Competitive preparation

No experience is required. Many of our most successful boxing clients started with absolutely no prior training.

Strength Training

Strength training is one of the most powerful tools available for improving health and performance.

Benefits include:

  • Increased muscle mass

  • Improved metabolism

  • Better bone health

  • Enhanced athletic performance

  • Greater confidence

  • Improved quality of life

Strength training is not just for athletes.

It is one of the best investments anyone can make in their long-term health.

Mobility and Movement

Mobility is about more than flexibility.

Good mobility helps you:

  • Move efficiently

  • Reduce injury risk

  • Improve athletic performance

  • Maintain independence as you age

  • Feel better in everyday life

I regularly incorporate mobility work, movement training, and corrective exercise into client programs.

Rehabilitation Support

One of my greatest passions is helping people regain confidence after injury.

Many individuals finish physiotherapy and are unsure what comes next.

This is where coaching can play a valuable role.

By gradually rebuilding strength, improving movement quality, and increasing confidence, clients can continue making progress long after formal rehabilitation has ended.

Active Aging

Growing older does not mean becoming weaker.

I believe strength training, mobility work, and regular physical activity are among the most effective tools available for maintaining independence and quality of life.

Many of my clients in their 50s, 60s, and beyond are achieving goals they never thought possible.

My Coaching Philosophy

At PuncHIIT Fitness, we often say:
Stop Exercising. Start Training.

There is a difference.

Exercise is activity.

Training has purpose.

Every session should move you closer to a meaningful goal, whether that's reducing pain, building strength, improving fitness, learning boxing, or simply feeling better.

My role is to provide the structure, accountability, support, and expertise to help you get there.

Why Clients Choose To Work With Me

Clients often tell me they appreciate:

  • A welcoming and supportive environment

  • Honest guidance

  • Clear instruction and coaching

  • Attention to proper technique

  • Adaptations for injuries and limitations

  • Long-term thinking rather than quick fixes

  • A focus on sustainable progress

Fitness is not about perfection.

It's about becoming a little better every day.

Beyond The Gym

When I'm not coaching, you'll often find me training, studying, working on new ideas for PuncHIIT Fitness, riding my motorcycle, or continuing to learn more about strength training, rehabilitation, mobility, and human performance.

I firmly believe that great coaches never stop learning.

The fitness industry continues to evolve, and I'm committed to continually improving my knowledge so I can better serve the people who trust me with their health and fitness goals.
